Trussville was first settled by North Carolinian Warren Truss in 1814. It was originally called Truss after him but became Trussville later on. Locals organized the Trussville and Cahaba River Land Company when the railroad service came to the city after the Civil War. They expected a boom in the population and steel and iron industries that never really came. Instead, the city felt growth between 1980 and 1987 after annexation helped Trussville?s landmass triple in size.
